The Prince of the Air

The air is invisible, you can only feel the breeze rather than behold it. Such is spiritual warfare, you can’t see the demons (some can if the demon wants to be seen as to intimidate someone) at work in your life, fighting against you or taunting you. The devil goes by many names, and this title is tricky. In Ephesians 2:2 this name is revealed— “in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience.” The ways of this world are not God’s ways. Nor will this world teach you the Will of God. The king of this world isn’t The Lord, he does NOT have the whole world in his hands, it is Satan. In fact, there is a multitude of verses in the Bible that instruct us to not love the world, nor conform to the ways of the world. Romans 12:2— “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Jesus is the “Prince of Peace”, peace in Greek is “Irini” and translates into rest (this DOES not mean to sleep) or wholeness. To take it a step further, the Hebrews recognize it as someone’s well-being. That would include all form of health and wellness: body, mind, and soul. That alone should reveal that God is good and wants good health for us. So, you can stop blaming God for illnesses and problems. He will surely use it for his glory though, just as the enemy twists good into bad, he will use the bad we experience and transform it into something good. The Lord makes us WHOLE (well). He is the missing piece when we feel something missing in our lives. Mark 10:52— “Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way, your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.”

When you turn on the radio, you are likely to hear “In the Air Tonight” by Phil Collins (which by his own admission has sinister meaning) or lyrics like “Emotions in the air” by Bad Wolves. A lot of people will even reference emotions or behavior to being influenced by “something in the air.” These are feelings, and feelings are not facts nor are they the Truth. Jeremiah 17:9 states— “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; Who can know it?” We often hear the phrase “follow your heart,” and the context of this verse involves our own selfish desires. In Philippians 4:6-7 God says— “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” The enemy wants us to lean on our own understanding such as believing in OURSELVES or thinking Love is just a feeling. Society teaches us to throw around the word love like it is nothing special and everyone knows how to love. These are Lies from the enemy because in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7— “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” Look at the world, does it love that way or teach you to love that way? The Truth is we need to go to God for all our needs, and he even honors our wants. We need to stop trusting our “feelers” and trust in God and seek out his wisdom not Man’s own. Man will let you down and lead you astray and that is just what the “Prince of Air” wants.
