Many people have witnessed exorcisms on video or in-person, but do demons speak to the preachers delivering the individual? The answer is yes, they absolutely can, and they will if commanded to in the name of Jesus Christ. I myself have witnessed it and been subject to deliverance and had demons cast out of me.
These evil spirits that oppress Christians and possess non-believers, are ruthless and given to pride. After all, their leader, Satan was cast out of heaven for being prideful and leading a rebellion against God. Christians today argue that it is fake, or the preacher is really a false prophet if they claim a demon has revealed secrets such as their intentions, but this can indeed be true.
In one such case, a Deliverance Pastor asked a demon about “Pharmakeia” as it spoke through a possessed woman, at first it would not reveal the intent behind this name until the pastor quoted Luke 8:17– “For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light.” Once this was said, the pastor asked if the demon understood the word and when the demon said it did, it was asked who was the Word? When it replied “Jesus,” it was obligated to answer that “Pharmakeia” is black magic and opens doors for the darkness.
Pastor Locke reveals another instance of demons communicating their intent when it was revealed that there were six witches that had infiltrated his church and their names were even provided. There are those that find this hard to believe, but I believe it is possible. I have witnessed infiltrations in the Body of Christ, and it was becoming diseased with false doctrines spewed from the mouths of false prophets. I personally have never spoken with a demon in the same way as some of these preachers have, but I have seen them in people that were guilty of bringing division and strife to the church.
This is a controversial subject, but this also leads me to bring awareness to the names of demons. Preachers can sometimes ask the name of what is oppressing a Christian and it will reveal itself and other times it will try and hide so it cannot be cast out but always remember that where there is one, there are others.
Schizophrenia is a demon, as is depression, anxiety, malice, etc… People are quick to write off these issues as disorders that medications can cure but these pills only relieve symptoms, they do not cure the illness. The illness is often linked to spiritual bondage. Let me make it clear that not everything is spiritual warfare, but there is a way to discern. In the Bible, there is a line drawn that separates ordinary illness from demonic oppression. Although you could still associate illness with generational curses and personal issues such as unforgiveness.
In fact, there is an actual illness known as “Soul Sickness,” and this is linked to hopelessness, and feelings of inferiority or resentment. The man with leprosy in Matthew 8:2-3 was healed of sickness– “And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, ‘Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.’ Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, ‘I am willing; be cleansed.’ Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.” This man was not possessed nor under demonic oppression. In Mark 9:20 a possessed boy has epilepsy courtesy of the demons– “Then they brought him To Him. And when he saw Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth.” These demons that bring illness are known as “unclean spirits,” but there are distinct kinds as mentioned throughout the Holy Bible:
- Spirit of Divination (Acts 16:16-18) — “Pharmakeia” / Witchcraft
- Familiar Spirit (Deuteronomy 18:11) — New Age / Yoga
- Spirit of Jealousy (Galatians 5:19) — Revenge / Division
- Lying Spirit (2 Chronicles 18:22) — False Prophecy / Gossip
- Perverse Spirit (Romans 1:17-32) — Pornography / Abortion
- Spirit of Haughtiness (1 Samuel 15:23) — Pride / Rebellion
- Spirit of Heaviness (Isaiah 61:3) — Hopelessness / Insomnia
- Spirit of Whoredoms (Proverbs 5:1-14) — Adultery / Love of Money
- Spirit of Infirmity (Luke 13:11) — Asthma / Cancer
- Deaf and Dumb Spirit (Mark 5:5) — Suicidal / Epilepsy
- Spirit of Bondage (Romans 7:23) — Addictions / Phobias
- Spirit of Fear (1 John 4:18) — Nightmares / Anxiety
- Seducing Spirits (1 Timothy 4:1) — Hypocrite / Attraction to False Prophets
- Spirit of Anti-Christ (1 John 2:18) — Humanism / Anti-Christian
- Spirit of Error (1 John 4:6) — Argumentative / Unteachable
- The Spirit of Poverty (Proverbs 6:11) — Laziness / Greed
- Spirit of Death (Psalm 23:4) — Suicide Attempts / Mental Illness
All the above-mentioned evil spirits play a particular role in how they torment humans, and each identifies itself with the traits listed to distinguish between them. Demons can easily give themselves away, and they have in Biblical times and modern times.
This can serve as a guide to understand the differences between them and what traits to look for if someone is oppressed. I admonish my brothers and sisters in Christ to always be of sober mind, pray in supplication and praise, and wear the FULL Armor of God, and stand steadfast against these attacks for as Isaiah 54:17 promises — “No weapon formed against you shall prosper And every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, ‘And their righteousness is from Me,’ Says the Lord.”
There is an invisible war raging around us daily as told in Ephesians 6:12 — “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” But the Lord has already told us the battle is already won. Do not give the devil or his minions anything to build a stronghold from, cleanse yourself out and break free from the bondage of these things such as depression, addictions, and disease.
There is freedom in Jesus Christ!
